How to be original

Since I started to study the art of Graphic Design, I realized that I don’t have a specific type of design that I like to follow. The industry is always changing and new designs sweep across print and digital space like a dance trend on TikTok. There has never been an ad campaign that I did not see for the first time without a subtle reminder that something similar was on a billboard or facebook ad I saw two days prior. So how do I try to be original?

I like to keep in mind that originality is not just about the design but how you deliver a brand to a partner. Speaking to a new design is one of my favorite parts, it’s all about the journey you take as a design and how you get to the end of the brand campaign. Now, keeping a design as original as possible also comes from doing a lot of research about the brand you are working with and what the audience is like. Staying original to me is knowing the difference between copying a trending design and working on a design with an analytical process incorporating trending campaigns.
